sports portfolio evaluation

part 1- portfolios

video 1
a. alyssa scholar

b. photo stories: eating disorder and other singles

c. the whole portfolio seemed a bit sad, the photos were all to similar, many shots have been done better before 

d. good backgrounds, some photos were striking 

e. the photos were okay i mean i didnt think they were very original but there were a few that were very good

video 2

a. travis haughton

b. photo story of a deaf child 

c. more needs to be shown, alittle redundant, words take away from the photo

d. nice light, good levels doesnt look staged

e. i thought the photos were good they showed a lot of peoples feelings and such

video 3

a. nick adams

b. photo journalism of several events

c. focus is not too great, the whole thing is kinda boring, composition is too heavy

d. framed well and gets right in there for the photos

e. the photos werent that great but there were some that i thought were really good these judges hated them though

video 4

a. josh birnnbaum

b. photo stories of wheel chair sport and singles 

c. backgrounds add nothing to photos, terrible transition in portfolio, nothing really strong in the stories

d. content is amusing and pictures have nice light

e. i liked these photos the best i thought they had the most stricking pictures and there was alot of them 

winning portfolio

dustin snipes

a. creative, had good focus, good angles, nice color composition

b. i thought all the photos were really different and unique i see no weaknesses they were all really good

recap video

a. the judges looked over all the portfolios and discussed what they liked and didnt like then chose a winner they could all agree on

part 2- individual images

1. i agree with the judges on the photo of the guy wearing the bright green shirt falling off the wave. they didnt really like it, they thought it should be tighter, maybe at a more interesting angle, or taken as his face hits the water. And i agree i dont thing the photo was anything really good it had some good qualities but nothing grand.
2. there is this one photo of a tennis player and her racket is like in the air, the judges loved it but i just don't. i think i would like to see her face and i dont know i guess i just dont see whats so great about it.
